Duluth snowfall to date exceeds total season average
As of noon Thursday, the snowfall for the 2022-23 winter is 2 inches more than the average season total as recorded at the National Weather Service in Duluth.

DULUTH — Total snowfall for the 2022-23 winter so far has surpassed the normal amount for the whole season, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth.
The typical total snowfall for the season at the NWS Duluth office is 90.2 inches. As of its noon Thursday observation, snowfall to date has reached 92.1 inches, NWS Duluth reported in a tweet.
Snowfall is expected to wrap up Thursday night in most areas of the Northland except the South Shore snow belts, the National Weather Service said.
An additional 1-3 inches of snowfall is forecast through 6 a.m. Friday for areas of the South Shore, including Bayfield and Ashland counties. Less than 1 inch is expected for interior Northwestern Wisconsin, the Twin Ports and elsewhere in Northeastern Minnesota.
The National Weather Service says dangerously cold wind chills of 20-30 degrees below zero are expected for northern Minnesota through Friday morning.

The city of Duluth has not declared a snow emergency, according to a news release Thursday afternoon. Plow operators continue to clear roads, with the first priority main arterial roads, followed by residential streets and then alleys. A street priority map is available at
duluthmn.gov/snow.
The city reminds residents that within 24 hours of a snow event, property owners must clear their sidewalks of snow and ice. For more information, go to
