Niya Wilson and Annah Schussman scored two goals apiece to lead top-seeded Wisconsin-Superior to a 6-0 victory over fourth-seeded Minnesota-Morris in the UMAC women’s soccer tournament semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, before 136 at NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.
Wilson also had two assists, Schussman had one assist and freshman goalkeeper Jenna Lang only needed to notch one save to earn the shutout for the Yellowjackets (17-3-1), who had a 28-3 advantage in shots.
Bernadette Cienik had 10 saves for the Cougars (6-13).
UWS, which won the UMAC regular-season title and No. 1 seed for the first time, advances to play second-seeded Northwestern (12-5-2) at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at NBC Spartan Sports Complex for the tournament title and the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament. Both the UMAC women’s soccer title game and the men’s match to follow will be carried on KUWS 91.3 FM.
Northwestern advanced with a 1-0 victory over third-seeded Bethany Lutheran as the Eagles’ lone goal came in the 67th minute with a penalty kick from R.J. Mullin.

Doyea, UWS move onto UMAC title game
Blake Doyea scored two goals as top-seeded Wisconsin-Superior downed fourth-seeded Northwestern 5-1 in their UMAC men’s soccer tournament semifinal before 48 at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
Blake Perry, Scott Wilson and Nicolai Stokker added goals and Alex Paredes had four saves for UWS (15-6).
Jaron Harthoorn had the lone goal for Northwestern at 85:52 while John-Charl Micklich had five saves for the Eagles (7-10-1).

’Jackets fall 3-1 to Cougars in UMAC semifinals
Lydia Nash had 15 kills to lead second-seeded Minnesota-Morris to a 25-19, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23 victory over Wisconsin-Superior in a hotly contested UMAC volleyball tournament semifinal before 158 at Jim Gremmels Court in Morris, Minnesota.
McKenzie Newton paced the offense with 45 set assists while also adding 13 digs for the Cougars (15-13), who play top-seeded Northwestern (28-3) for the UMAC title game at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Ericksen Center in St. Paul.
Alexie Pryd had 23 kills to lead UWS (12-17) while Maiana Stark (16) and Cassy Teff (13) were also in double figures in kills. Kaylin Plautz was tough along the net with five blocks, Megan Holz and Cassy Teff had 29 and 21 assists, respectively and Jenn Anderson led the defense with 25 digs.
