Wis. Prep Report: Northwood/Solon Springs softball falls to Phillips

Northwood/Solon Springs season came to an end Monday in the WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinals via a 6-4 loss to Phillips at home.

Northwood/Solon Springs took an initial 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but fell behind after a four-run top of the second by Phillips.

Two more runs by the hosts tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, but Phillips plated two runs in the top of the sixth to advance to Wednesday's sectional final against Fall Creek.

NSS leadoff hitter Annika Patrick led her team by going 4-for-4 at the plate with a triple and run scored. Muree Ahlberg had a double and two RBIs. Kyra Latvala and Zoey Vaara both drove in runs.

Vaara took the loss on the mound, giving up 6 runs, 5 earned, on 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout.
