The athletic season begins this week at Superior High School with a trio of jamborees and the annual Spartan Hoopla.
The Lake Superior Conference boys hockey jamboree is tonight at the Heritage Center in Duluth. The Spartans play Ashland at 5:15 p.m.; Proctor at 6:10 p.m.; and Two Harbors at 6:50 p.m.
The basketball jamboree is also at 6 p.m. today at Duluth Denfeld. Superior's scrimmages will be against Ashland, Denfeld and Proctor.
The first ever LSC dance jamboree will take place at 7 p.m. today at Clyde Iron in Duluth.
Also competing will be Duluth Marshall, Denfeld and Hermantown.

The Spartan Hoopla is Thursday in the SHS gym. The event begins with a player autograph session at 6 p.m.
There will also be the announcements of the boys and girls basketball teams, a 3-point contest and raffles.
The Hoopla is free and open to the public. There are gate fees for the jamborees.
