Wisconsin-Superior went the distance and then some in nonconference volleyball on Tuesday at Hamline, but went home empty handed after the Pipers claimed a 3-2 (21-25, 25-9, 19-25, 25-22, 17-15) victory.

UWS led 14-9 in the fifth set but failed to convert five consecutive match points, then a sixth with a 15-14 lead before Hamline won the last three points and the match.

Alexie Pryd led UWS with 14 kills. Cassy Teff and Kaylin Plautz added 11 apiece, coming from some of setter Megan Holz's 38 assists. Pryd set the tone defensively as well, with 15 digs. Jenna Anderson had 14 and Holz 13.

Sydney Larson led Hamline with 16 kills.

UWS (4-11) returns to action Friday at Crown in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play.
