Northwood swept Solon Springs 25-19, 25-13, 25-12 in their high school volleyball playoff opener Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Minong.

Emme Golembiewski had 17 kills and libero Annika Patrick had seven ace serves and 10 digs to lead the Evergreens (2-10), who advance to play Thursday, Oct. 22, at Flambeau in the next round.

Emily Berg added 11 kills for Northwood, Becky Liautaud had 11 digs and Kayla Schultz paced the offense with 22 set assist. The team served 97.3% as a whole.

Solon Springs (0-6) got five kills and nine blocks from Jori Gehl. Bailey Monson was 6-for-6 serving and Kyra Latvala led the team with seven set assists. The Eagles travel to Ironwood Monday, Oct. 26, and Mellen Tuesday, Oct. 27, to finish out the 2020 season.

"It has been fun watching the lady Eagles progress throughout the season," assistant coach Ciara Simenson said. "Even though we didn’t come out winning the first round of regionals to advance, the girls have become a strong team with many accomplishments to be proud of this season."
