The Superior High School volleyball team finally got to play at home Tuesday, Sept. 17, but the Spartans failed to take advantage of home-court advantage with a 3-0 loss to the Hermantown Hawks.

The Spartans battled the Hawks in all three games, but came up short with scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-20.

Superior was led by Zoie Cole, 23 set assists and 11 digs; Destiny Hering, 14 digs; Lexie Lohman, 12 kills and 16 digs; Izzy Swanson, nine blocks; and Abby Dolsen, 25 digs.

Hermantown was led by Kennedy Barrett, 34 set assists; and Chloe Sams, 28 digs.

Up next for the Spartans is the Duluth East Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

Next week Superior hosts Northwestern (Tuesday, Sept. 24) and Proctor (Thursday, Sept. 26). Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
