The University of Wisconsin-Superior men's hockey team defeated UW-River Falls 3-2 Saturday night at Hunt Arena in River Falls after skating to a 1-1 overtime tie Friday.
Pat Dalbec, Brad Phenow and Andy Singerhouse scored for Superior on Saturday.
Dalbec's power-play goal came with one second remaining in the second period. Jeff Forsythe and Joey Massingham assisted on Dalbec's seventh goal of the season.
Zach Schrotenboer and Jake Callega scored for the Falcons (4-4-2, 0-4-2).
Kevin Clark's goal at 8:14 of the third period was Superior's lone goal in Friday's stalemate.
After a scoreless first period, UWS trailed 1-0 when Willie Hess scored at 4:38 of the second period on a power play. Clark's equalizer started with assists from Dalbec and Joey Massingham.
The Yellowjackets outshot the Falcons 5-1 in overtime (35-27 overall) but couldn't slip the puck past River Falls goalie Scott Lewan, who made 34 saves. Drew Strandberg stopped 26 shots for UWS.
For his effort Strandberg was named the WIAC Athlete of the Week in men's hockey.
Strandberg turned aside a season-high 26 shots in Friday night's 1-1 tie, then picked up his sixth win of the season with 19 saves in a 3-2 victory.
