UWS softball team wins two more

The University of Wisconsin-Superior softball team won two more games during their spring trip, 5-4 over Washington and Jefferson and 3-1 over Elmhurst 3-1.

The University of Wisconsin-Superior softball team won two more games during their spring trip, 5-4 over Washington and Jefferson and 3-1 over Elmhurst 3-1.

Action is taking place during the Yellowjackets' spring trip at the NTC Complex in Claremont, Fla.

Against Washington and Jefferson, Kalli Kucharski was the complete-game winner, allowing six hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Only one of the four runs she allowed was earned.

Superior had eight hits, including a double and two-run single by Ashlee Olson; a RBI double and single by Taylor VanDamme; a triple and single by Ashley Martin; an RBI single by Britnee Blake and singles and a single by Emily Eisenmann.

Amanda LeBard picked up the win on the mound for UWS against Elmhurst, allowing four hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

UWS scored all of its run in the fifth inning. Lindsay Gary double and pinch runner Alayna Moe scored on Olson's single. Jenn Paul tripled to score Olson then scored herself on Chelsey Jarzin's bunt single.

The 'Jackets also got two hits from Kucharski and a single from VanDamme.

UWS plays Buena Vista and Tuffs University Tuesday, Benedictine University and Eastern Connecticut Wednesday, Plymouth State and Manchester College Thursday and Tuffs and Cornell College Friday.
