The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its first NCAA Division III men's soccer poll of the season this week and the Yellowjacket men's soccer team has cracked the top 10, ranking ninth in the North Region.

The program was ranked for the first time in history a year ago, reaching eighth in the region in the first poll of 2010.

"It's a great honor for us, but we can't be worried about that right now," UWS coach Joe Mooney said. "We've only played two games. We have a tough schedule ahead of us so we aren't going to worry about rankings. We're going to worry about our next opponent and about getting better as a team every day."

Incidentally, the next opponent for the Yellowjackets is St. John's University out of Collegeville, Minn. The Johnnies are ranked fifth in the North Region, sporting a 3-0 record thus far in the campaign. Among the teams they've defeated is the Milwaukee School of Engineering, whom the Yellowjackets also knocked off. The Johnnies beat the Raiders 3-2 on Sept. 3.
