The University of Wisconsin-Superior volleyball team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 3-0 win over Northland College Wednesday night at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.
The Yellowjackets began the evening with a 3-0 exhibition win over Lakehead University of Thunder Bay.
UWS then defeated Northland College 25-10, 25-12 and 26-24.

Stephanie Bandelin and Bailey Romans lead the way for the Yellowjackets with 10 kills apiece. Emily VerWay dished out 28 assists and Ashlee Bayer chipped in with nine kills.
As a team the Yellowjackets had an attack percentage of .375 in the match, a season high.
The Yellowjackets will compete in the Finlandia University Tournament this weekend. They open against the host Lions at 1 p.m. Friday, followed by a 4 p.m. match against Rockford University.
On Saturday, UWS plays Milwaukee School of Engineering at noon and Northland College at 1:30 p.m.
UWS returns home to host Hamline at 7 p.m. Monday.
Men’s soccer
Joey Gustafson scored the lone goal 36:27 into the first half as the UWS men’s soccer team defeated Bethel 1-0 in a nonconference match Wednesday in Arden Hills, Minn.

Ben Wilhelm picked up his second straight shutout for UWS with five saves.
Jakob Bartels made 11 saves for Bethel (1-3).
The Yellowjackets, who improved to 3-1, host North Central at 2 p.m. Saturday and Carthage College at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Women’s soccer
UWS allowed a penalty-kick goal in the first overtime to fall 2-1 to UW-River Falls in a nonconference game Wednesday in Superior.
The Yellowjackets (0-3) took an early lead when Britt Zieroth scored just 1:34 into the contest.
The Falcons rallied back in the final 10 minutes when Lizzy Bruder scored at 81:03 to even matters at 1-1. In overtime, Abby Soderholm scored from the penalty spot to give River Falls the victory.

UWS goalkeeper Bailey Henderson made seven saves in the loss. Erica Cimochowski picked up the win with four saves for the Falcons (2-1).
UWS hosts North Central at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
