UWS men's soccer collects UMAC awards

Nine members of the Wisconsin-Superior men's soccer team collected some sort of award from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference in post-season voting announced on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021.

Freshman defender Josh Bellamy was named the league's rookie of the year, while coach Joe Mooney was awarded UMAC Coach of the Year for the third time.

Bellamy and senior forwards Blake Perry and Protus Babaya were named to the league's first team, while seniors Blake Doyea and Scott Wilson were second-team selections at forward and midfield, respectively. Freshman Harry Ambler was a second-team selection on defense.

Honorable mentions included forward Nicolai Stokker and goalkeeper Alex Paredes. Senior goalkeeper Payton Anderson was named to the UMAC Sportsmanship Team.

UWS (16-6) plays No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis in an NCAA Tournament first-round game Saturday at 11 a.m.
