Martin Luther scored a pair of first-half goals and then got an assist from the clouds above to claim a 2-0 victory and spoil the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s home opener Wednesday at the new NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Hailey Johnson scored for Martin Luther (1-1) in the 36th minute off a free kick, and Lauren Maertz found the back of the net via a rebound to put the Knights ahead 2-0 at halftime.

With 14:01 remaining in the non-conference game and UWS (0-2) still down two goals, the game was halted due to lightning and declared a win for Martin Luther.
