The Northwestern High School football team improved to 2-0 with a 42-14 win Friday night at Amery.

The Tigers out-gained the Warriors 515-237 in total yards.

Northwestern's Lee Brown was named ifan.tv's player of game after finishing with two catches for 53 yards, including a TD catch. He also had two interceptions and led the Tigers with five tackles.

T.J. Polkoski added two touchdowns, one on an interception and the other rushing the ball, and he ran in for a pair of two-point conversions. He also caught a pass for 31 yards.

Ryan Miesbauer led the Tigers with 133 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Kevin Derrick added 121 yards and one touchdown.

NHS quarterback Steve Perry was 3-of-3 for 70 yards.

The Tigers also got 43 yards rushing from Justin Alexson, 36 from Kasey Leggate, 30 from Jim Hosey, 27 from Polkoski and 19 from Zak Anttila.

Amery scored all of its points in the first quarter.

Northwestern scored 14 points in the first and second quarters, eight points in the third quarter and six in the fourth.

The Tigers begin Heart O' North Conference action by hosting Ladysmith at 7 p.m. Friday.
