Holmes named to Horizon League All-Academic Team

Senior Leah Holmes of the UW-Milwaukee women’s track and field team has been named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team.

Holmes, a former Superior Spartans and now a graduate student with Milwaukee’s Physical Therapy program with a 3.643 GPA, has returned for her final season of eligibility in fine form.

Despite only competing four times on the season, Holmes is ranked in the top-10 in both the 800 and 1,500 in the league standings.

The 2015 Horizon League Cross Country Athlete of the Year and 2016 Horizon League Indoor Athlete of the Year, Holmes looked for more hardware heading into her final conference championships last weekend.

To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.

This year’s Horizon League Championships was Friday in Rochester, Mich.
