MINNEAPOLIS -- Flip Saunders, head coach and president of basketball operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves, announced Tuesday he is undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a form of cancer.

In a statement released on the Timberwolves website, Saunders said he was diagnosed eight weeks ago during an examination with team medical officials, and that he is undergoing chemotheraphy for what his doctors call a “very treatable and curable form of cancer.”

“I am taking it step-by-step and day-by-day to understand how to best manage this process,” Saunders wrote.

Saunders will continue his duties with the Timberwolves during his treatment, the statement said.
