The Northwestern High School cross country team competed at Saturday's WIAA State Championships at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. The Tigers boys finished in 14th place among Division 2 teams, while the girls finished 16th.
Wisconsin Lutheran won the boys team title with 63 points. Northwestern finished with 315 points.
Monroe's Ethan Moehn won the boys race in 15:58.93.
Northwestern was led by sophomore Tim Heikkila, who finished 36th in 17:06.01.
Also for the Tigers, Leo Mack was 101st in 18:05.79; David Rautio was 108th in 18:11.42; Josiah Vik was 117th in 18:21.19; Bret Little was 124th in 18:29.96; Mason Lombard was 129th in 18:36.80; and Nathan Johnson was 144th in 19:13.71.

Edgewood was crowned the girls state champion with 84 points. The NHS girls finished with 371 points.
Morgan Florscheim of Shorewood won the girls race with a time of 14:29.10 seconds. Sophomore Emma Nelson was the fastest Tiger, finishing in 34th place in 15:55.11.
Other NHS results were: 123rd, Carmen Ormston, 17:26.47; 125th, Kelly Erkkila, 17:28.68; 126th Caitlin Johnson, 17:30.69; 134th Michaela Ruhman, 17:44.64; 139th Anna Kalin, 17:53.67; and 148th Mariah Nelson, 18:26.56.
