The Superior High School girls swimming and diving team lost 111-75 Thursday, Sept. 19, at Two Harbors, then finished fifth in the Chippewa Falls Invitational Saturday, Sept. 21.

Diver Taylee Anderson picked up the only win for the Spartans at Two Harbors.

On Saturday, Shelby Bresnahan finished third in the 50 and 500 freestyle events and Madeline Casey was fifth in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.

Bresnahan, Molly Lenmark, Elise DeGraef and Paige Booker finished fifth in the 200 free relay and Lenmark, Booker Bresnahan and Casey finished fourth in the 400 free.

Superior hosts Duluth Denfeld Tuesday, Sept. 24, and Cloquet, Thursday, Sept. 26. Both meets begin at 5 p.m.

Girls golf

Superior went 0-2 in Heart O’ North Conference action Thursday, Sept. 19 at Barron.

Spooner went 2-0 with a score of 223, two strokes better than Barron’s 225. Superior finished at 235.

Superior’s Keely Morehouse took medalist honors with a 47.

Other Spartan scores were Brooklyn Beattie, 58; Emma Raye, 63; and Lily Walrath, 67.

Superior, which golfed at Northwestern Monday, Sept. 23, wraps up the regular season at the HON tournament 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept., 25, at Rolling Oakes Golf Course in Barron.

Superior will host the WIAA Division 1 regional at Nemadji Golf Course on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Volleyball

The Spartans went 3-0 in the Duluth East Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Superior defeated Duluth Denfeld, Nevis and the host Greyhounds.

The Spartans host Northwestern Tuesday, Sept. 24, and Proctor Thursday, Sept. 26. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
