Superior’s Madeline Manion won the Minnesota State Figure Skating Championship in the Pre-Preliminary Girls level on Aug. 25-28 at the Bielenberg Sports Center in Woodbury, Minn.
Manion, a 7-year-old, second-grade student at Superior Cathedral, took first place in her quarterfinal round on Aug. 26, and then won the championship round the following day.
Manion trains with the Duluth Figure Skating Club five to six days a week for two to three hours a day after school and weekends.
Her skating coach is Ted Engelking, the Director of the Duluth Figure Skating Club.
Manion’s parents are Jeff and Kalli Manion, and her grandparents are Conrad and Patrice Erickson and Barb Manion. All are of Superior.
