Students from Northwestern High School and Superior High School were among the participants at the Wisconsin State High School Clay Target League’s state tournament, held June 11 in Rome, Wis.

The tournament featured students from 42 Wisconsin high schools, with competitors shooting in one of three classifications: novice, junior varsity or varsity.

Superior’s Kallie Kimmes, who was a regular season individual champion, placed first in the girls JV division with a score of 89. She was third among female shooters across all divisions.

Northwestern’s Trevor Janowicz and Superior’s  Dylan Ion, meanwhile, both had one perfect 25-for-25 round at the state tournament. Janowicz was perfect in the first round of the second session, and Ion didn’t miss a shot in the final round of the day.

Ion scored a 92 out of 100 to finish 18th in the boys varsity division. Janowicz placed 39th in the boys varsity division with a score of 89.

Nathan Grygleski, of Tomah High School, was the tournament’s top shooter with a score of 97.
