Men lose shootout

Stout won its final home game of the regular season with a five-point win over the Yellowjackets.

The Blue Devils (5-17, 2-11) trailed for much of the first half as they shot 42 percent compared to Superior's 50, and turned the ball over five times, while taking it away only once. However, Stout kept a manageable deficit, and at the halftime buzzer, Miles Webb drained a 3-pointer to take a 40-39 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, Superior only led twice, each time by just one point. Stout increased its lead to nine points two separate times, and converted on its free throws late to put the win in the books.

Webb recorded a double-double on the night with his game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds. He shot 6-of-8 from beyond the arc and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Jerrel Enerson-Matthews added 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting and a team-high six assists.

For the Yellowjackets, Jake Smith scored 22 points and completed his double-double with 10 boards. Shane Manor added 19 points and four steals, Dwight Hill added 16 points and seven assists and Dan Culy had 15 points.

With the win, Stout puts itself one game behind UW-River Falls for the final WIAC tournament berth. The Falcons sit at 3-10 after a win over UW-La Crosse tonight.
