The St. Norbert Green Knights won the NCHA's Peters Cup championship with a 2-1 win over the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets Saturday night before 1,652 fans at the Cornerstone Community Center in Ashwaubenon.
UWS trailed 2-0 until Derek Stauber scored with 44.6 seconds remaining.
Senior goalie B.J. O'Brien stopped 30 shots as top-ranked St. Norbert (22-4-1) extended its league record with its ninth Peters Cup title.
The Green Knights earned the NCHA's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament, with the pairings announced Sunday night.
O'Brien, who improved to 19-2-1, proved why he was the NCHA player of the year by stopping 11 shots in the third period.
