Scoring four points in a crucial final 25 seconds, the Ashland Oredockers defeated the Superior Cathedral Panthers 62-59. Ashland was led by Jim Elting's 20 points. Greg Amys fired in 23 points for the Panthers and Dennis VanMassenhove hit for 19 counters. (1967)
Even a 55-point second-half charge couldn't produce a win for the UW-Superior basketball team, a 93-75 loser to Carroll College in the consolation game of the UMD Family Classic Basketball Tournament. The reason? Only 20 points in the first half. Mike Elliott scored 28 points for UWS and Tony Smith added 22 counters. (1982)
