Bernie LaValley and Dave Lundquist each had two hits and made the most of them in the Superior High School Spartans' 8-6 win over Morgan Park. LaValley hammered a home run and a single, driving in two runs, and he scored three times. Lundquist slammed a pair of doubles that accounted for three RBIs. Dan Morgan and Bill Doucette combined to pitch a three-hitter for the Spartans. (1973)

Pete Susens singled home the winning run in the 15th inning of the opener and Rick Enrico pitched a six-hitter as the UW-Superior Yellowjackets took both ends of a baseball doubleheader from UW-Stout. Susens had only one hit in the opener, but it brought Steve Anderson home from second base with the winning run at 5-4. Enrico got strong support in the nightcap, with Susens, Greg Rajanen, Brian Dunleavy and Len Campbell each hammering two hits. The wins improved the Yellowjackets' record in the Wisconsin State University Conference to 12-3 and protected their slim lead for the title in conference's Northern Division. (1975)

Chuck Swanson and Tim Syring led the Superior High School track team to a win in the Grand Rapids Invitational Meet with 94 points to get past runner-up Cloquet (with 82 points) and a dozen other Minnesota schools in the Class AA Division. Swanson won the 220-yard dash with a meet record time of 22.9 second and he triumphed in the 440. Syring set a meet record with a long jump of 20 feet, 7.75 inches. (1976)
