Superior rinks won nine and tied two in the 12-match Marsh-McLennan Bonspiel to retain a trophy symbolic of the title in Twin Ports curling. Skips of winning Superior rinks were Ben Nichols, Bill Hoff, Corky Bradshaw, Bud Somerville, Tom Wright, Al Gagne, Bill Strum, Bobb Nichols and Rollie Larson. The Jim Fumoy and Ray Somerville rinks notched ties for Superior. (1968)
Cory Johnson scored 16 points to pace the Superior Hoop Club seventh-grade basketball team to a 41-19 win over Cloquet. In other action, the Knights of Columbus defeated Nemadji 27-18, getting 11 points from John Liberty. Bryant rolled to a 42-20 victory at the expense of Proctor under the leadership of Todd Clark and his eight points. (1983)
