Brandie Goldberg showed no signs of a recent hand injury by striking out six of the seven batters she faced over the final two innings.

The only blemish on her line was a fifth-inning infield single by Gabby Braatz that actually went of Goldberg’s glove.

Braatz went to second on a passed ball, but didn’t get any further as Goldberg struck out the next three batters.

Sophomore Emily Brubaker and Braatz, a freshman, pitched for Wausau East. The two struck out four and walked six.

Superior took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when A. Thul walked, stole second and scored on E. Olson’s infield single. Olson then scored on a bases-loaded walk to Hunker.

Thompson’s three-run home run was the big hit in Superior’s nine-run second inning.

DeMeyer also singled and scored on Hunker’s ground out; Graham hit an RBI single; H. Thul scored on a throwing error, and three runs scored when E. Olson reached on an error.

A. Thul led off the fourth with a double, stole third and scored Superior’s final run on a throwing error.
