Both the Spartans and the Tigers had top-10 individual finishers at the Wisconsin State High School Clay Target League’s state tournament, held June 10 in Rome, Wis.
Students from 52 Wisconsin high schools competed in the event, with shooters divided into novice, junior varsity and varsity divisions.
Two shooters earned top-10 honors in their divisions for Superior High School.
In the boys varsity division, Justin Kimmes shot a 95 to finish sixth of 278 shooters. He hit 47-of-50 targets in the first session and 48-of-50 in the second session, which included a perfect 25-of-25 final round.
Kallie Kimmes took fifth of 28 shooters in the girls varsity division with her score of 86. She hit 42-of-50 targets in the first session and 44-of-50 in the second.

For Northwestern High School, Joshua Walsh finished fourth among the 244 competitors in the junior varsity boys division. He hit 42-of-50 targets in the first session and 47-of-50 in the second for a score of 89.
The overall tournament champion was Hunter Strenke, of Clayton, with a nearly perfect 99. His only miss came midway through the first round of the second session.
As a team, Superior tallied 419 points to place 30th, while Northwestern shot a 385 to take 45th.
Boscobel won the team competition with a score of 464.
