Spartan cheerleaders advance to state

The Superior High School cheerleaders advanced to this weekend's state competition with a pair of first-place finishes at the WACPC Regional Cheer Competition held Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.

The Superior High School cheerleaders advanced to this weekend's state competition with a pair of first-place finishes at the WACPC Regional Cheer Competition held Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.

The Spartans placed first in Cheer-Dance for the third year in a row and place first in the Division 1 medium stunting routine.

Members of the Spartan cheerleading squad are Alexis Archambeau, Bailley Biwer, Carissa Carl, Danielle Chisholm, Ellen Hagberg, Tyler Johnsen, Alesha Kotter, Kayla Krygowski, Sara Magdzas, Shanya Miner, Andria Murphy, Chelsea Norkol, Bethany Roach and Helana Semborski.

The team is coached by Amy McCusker and Katie Latscher

The WACPC State Cheerleading Championships are Saturday at the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

SHS will have a state send-off for the cheer team in the SHS gym at 7:50 a.m. Friday. The public is invited to wish the team good luck at state.
