Eagles softball team improves to 11-1

The Solon Springs High School softball team improved to 11-1 with wins of 6-0 and 7-4 over the Ironwood Red Devils Monday, May 6, in Solon Springs.

Kylli Rajala picked up both wins for the Eagles. She tossed a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the opener, then gave up four runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out eight in game two.

The Eagles finished with 10 hits in the opener, including two apiece by Morgan Anderson, Rajala and Taylor Routley. Michyla Christianson added a double, and Maddelyn Swanson, Allison Androsky and Jessica Reilly singled.

Rajala doubled and singled in game two; Androsky added two singles; Anderson doubled; and Routley and Reilly each singled.

  1. Weber tripled and singled and Lorenson doubled and singled for Ironwood.

“SThe girls played very well Monday,” SSHS coach Dale Rajala said. “Kylli pitched well and we made the necessary plays on defense to limit their opportunities.

“We also hit the ball well, especially generating runs with two outs. I’m very proud of their effort.”

The Eagles play at Drummond Thursday, May 9, and Butternut Friday, May 10. Both games begin at 4:30 p.m.
