Even temperatures in the mid-20s could cool off the Superior High School softball team as it swept a non-conference doubleheader from Eau Claire North Tuesday, April 30, at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

The Spartans improved to 9-1 on the season as they easily won the opener 10-0, but needed a late-inning rally to win the second game 11-5.

After scoreless third and fourth innings, Superior tied things up at 4-4 in the fifth inning, thanks to two errors, a wild pitch and Elise DeGraef's RBI single.

The Spartans then sent 12 batters to the plate in a seven-run sixth inning, that included seven singles, two walks and a sac fly.

Stariha, who took over for McLaughlin with two outs in the second inning, allowed one run on four hits, while striking out three and walking three to pick up the win.
