The Northwestern High School softball team improved to 4-0, and won by the 10-run run for the third straight game, with a 14-4 six-inning win over Chetek-Weyerheauser Thursday, April 18, in Iron River.

Allison Luoma picked up the win for the Tigers, allowing three hits with 11 strikeouts and five walks.

The Tigers had 14 hits, led by Tory Anderson, who hit a three-run homer in the first inning and doubled.

Also for the Tigers, Brooke Ogren was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored; Karsyn Jones hit a two-run double and a two-run single; Tayva Plasch hit a two-run single; Mac Correll doubled twice and knocked in a run; Alyssa Little had an RBI double; Jayda Klubucher had an RBI single; and Kennedy Nelson singled twice.

The Bulldogs (1-3) got hits from Maggie Reisner, S. Antczak and H. Steinmetz.

Three walks and a hit batter led to Chetek's three runs in the second inning.

The Tigers (4-0 overall, 2-0 Heart O’ North Conference) have five road games next week starting at Duluth East at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 22.

Northwestern then plays at 5 p.m. at Spooner Tuesday, April 23, and Bloomer Thursday, April 24, before wrapping up the week with a doubleheader at Barron at 3 p.m. Friday, April 26.
