The University of Wisconsin-Superior men's soccer team clinched at least a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 4-0 win over Minnesota Morris on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
Blake Perry scored two of the Yellowjackets’ three second-half goals as they remained undefeated in the UMAC at 7-0.
Esteban Badillo-Ramirez opened the scoring in the 32nd minute for a 1-0 halftime lead. Perry sandwiched a goal by Miguel Ocampo with two of his own to complete the scoring for UWS.
Dalton VonKaenel made his return to the UWS net after a four-match absence due to an injury and made one save in 86 minutes before giving way to Ulrik Lager, who also finished with one save.
The Yellowjackets had a 16-2 edge in shots on goal vs. the Cougars (4-13, 2-4).
UWS (11-3-2) is now six points clear of second-place St. Scholastica and can sew up the league title with either a victory Tuesday over Northwestern or a Saints' loss at Northland Wednesday.
UWS scored a goal in each half to beat Morris 2-0 on Saturday, Oct 19, in Superior. Mackenzie Oehlerking followed up a goal in the fifth minute with one of her own in the 84th to ensure the win for the Yellowjackets (6-7-2, 5-0) and drop the Cougars to 4-7 and 2-4.
UWS swept Bethany Lutheran College 25-11, 25-14, 25-23 in UMAC action Saturday, Oct. 19, at home.
Cami Sletta and Cassy Teff had 10 kills each for the Yellowjackets (11-15, 1-5), who won their first conference match of the season.
Megan Rutt's 11 kills led the Vikings (9-15, 2-5).
