Jakob Kidd scored three goals to lead the Superior High School boys soccer team to a 4-1 non-conference win over Grand Rapids Thursday, Spet. 19, at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
Alex Hanson gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, and Kidd scored the eventual game-winner a minute later as Superior improved to 8-0 on the season. DeFoe assisted on Hanson’s goal and Kaden Olson helped on Kidd’s first goal.
Kidd’s second goal, with help from Viet Nguyen, gave Superior a 3-0 nine minutes into the second half.
Spartan keeper Brodie Raygor had his shutout bid spoiled when Grand Rapids’ Cam Fox scored in the 68th minute.
Isaac Moder assisted on Kidd’s third goal in the 83rd minute.
Raygor finished with four saves and Hayden DeMars stopped 11 shots for Grand Rapids.
The Spartans, also 4-0 in the Lake Superior Conference, host Two Harbors Tuesday, Sept. 24, and play at Hermantown Thursday, Sept. 26. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
Superior will wrap up next week by hosting Eau Claire North at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
