UWS soccer teams sweep North Central
The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s and women’s soccer teams swept a UMAC doubleheader from the North Central Rams Tuesday, Sept. 18 in Minneapolis.
Blake Perry scored twice and assisted on two others as the Yellowjackets defeated North Central 8-1 in UMAC action Tuesday afternoon in Minneapolis.
UWS also got a goal and assist each from James Bruce, Torsten Winnerblac and Archie Gjerdrum, and single goals from former Superior Spartan Blake Hanson, Gustavo Barbieri and Blake Doyea.
Josue Boutoul scored for the Rams.
Urlik Lager had two saves for Superior and Gabe Hartwig and Ryan Mau combined on eight saves for the Rams.

The Yellowjackets picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over the North Central Rams Tuesday, Sept. 18 in Minneapolis.
All of the scoring came in the first half.
UWS took a 2-0 lead on goals by Claire Smith and Kelli Graham.
North Central’s Abby Schwindern scored in the 20th minute, but Sarah Fjeran gave Superior another two-goal lead seven minutes later.
North Central finished the scoring with Linnea Madsen’s unassisted goal with 1:01 remaining in the half.
Morgan Philliber and Madison Gutekunst combined on 10 saves for UWS. Ellie Tieszen had one save for the Rams.
UWS (1-3-1, 1-1) hosts Northwestern at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 and plays at Finlandia at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23.

The Yellowjackets went 2-0 in a UMAC triangular Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the College of St. Scholastica.
UWS began the evening by defeating Northland College 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-11).
Emily VerWay led UWS with 29 assists, three ace serves and three blocks. Cami Sletta added seven kills; Brylee Colligan had six kills and 11 digs; and Karlie Leif had seven digs and three ace serves.
The Yellowjackets ended the evening with a 3-2 (25-19, 24-26, 20-25; 27-25; 15-11) win over the host Saints.
Taylor Howe led UWS with 23 kills and VerWay had 59 assists as the Yellowjackets won their fourth match in a row and for the eighth time in their last 10 outings.
