The Superior High School girls hockey team improved to 2-0-1 on the season with a 5-2 win over Chippewa Falls-Menomonie Tuesday night at the Superior Ice Arena.
Emma Peterson returned to the Spartan line up by scoring two goals and assisting on another. Peterson had to sit out of Superior’s 6-5 win over North Shore after she was called for checking from behind in the Spartans’ season-opening 4-4 overtime tie with Eau Claire Area.
Peterson gave Superior a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal 11:48 into the game.

Chippewa Falls tied the game up 37 seconds later when Kaylee Frenette scored on a power play with help from Kennedy Kerg.
The Spartans took a 2-1 lead on Jordyn Thompson’s goal with 1:58 left in the first period then made it 3-1 when Amanda Hinaus scored 8:14 into the second period.
Haley Pynch brought Chippewa Falls within 3-2 about six minutes later.
Superior sealed its victory with third-period goals from Addie Young and Peterson. Young’s tally came on a power play.
Missy Walkowiak picked up the win in goal for Superior with 14 saves. Lexi Hermann had 39 saves for Chippewa Falls.
Superior plays at Moose Lake-Willow River at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
CFM (0-1) is back in back in action this weekend at the Wisconsin Rapids Tournament.
