After falling to the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds 4-2 Friday in the opening game of a Peters Cup quarterfinal series, the University of Wisconsin-Superior men's hockey team needed to win the second game Saturday and the ensuing 20-minute mini-game to keep its season alive.
UWS fulfilled the first part of that requirement with a 5-0 shutout of UWEC to force the mini-game. Dane Bushey scored two goals in the win and Logan Isley, Art Clark and Talon Berlando each added one goal apiece.
Chad Beiswenger picked up the shutout in goal, stopping 31 shots on goal.
In the mini-game, however, the UWS men could not pick up another win as they fell 1-0. Sean Garrity scored the series-winning goal for the Blugolds.
