Ryan Doner’s power-play goal midway through the second period was all UW-River Falls needed to defeat the University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s hockey team Friday night at Wessman Arena.
Former Superior Spartan Mitch Kontny assisted on River Falls’ goal. After taking a pass from Mike Dietrich in the left faceoff circle, Kontny threw a cross-ice pass to Doner, who beat UWS goaltender Cory Simons with a one-timer from the right circle with nine minutes left in the second period.
Tanner Milliron had 38 saves for the Falcons and Simons had 23 saves for the Yellowjackets.
