The Superior Reds American Legion baseball team improved to 13-4 with a pair of wins late last week.
The Reds defeated Hayward 11-2 on Thursday at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex, then knocked off Hermantown in walk-off fashion 5-4 Friday at Morrie Arnovich Field.

Brandon Wing, Isaac Rios and Anthony Lupa limited Hayward to just three hits. Both runs didn’t come until the fifth inning, when the Reds were already leading 8-0.

Wing, Rios and Lupa finished with 11 strikeouts and a walk apiece.
The Reds had 12 hits, including a triple, single and three RBIs from Rios, and a double and three RBIs from Gunner Johnson.
Also for Superior, Trenton Wols doubled, singled and knocked in a run; Michael LaJoie had two hits and two RBIs; Judd Erickson and Conner Fonger both had two hits and scored three runs; and David Fender singled.

Dominic D'Auria’s two-out single to left scored Derek Fender with the winning run from second base in the bottom of the seventh inning in their win over Hermantown.
Justin Reinkall picked up the complete-game victory, allowing six hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Only one of Hermantown’s four runs was earned.
Offensively the Reds had 10 hits. Derek Fender doubled, singled and knocked in a run; D'Auria had two singles and an RBI; Johnson singled in two runs; Erickson doubled and singled; and Fonger, Hunter Frahm and Trenton Wols singled.

The Reds are off until 7:30 p.m. Friday when they host the West Duluth Cubs in the opening round of the Superior Youth Organization Legion Tournament at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
The other two teams in the Senior Legion Division are the Eastview Thunder and Hamline Red. The Reds play Eastview and Hamline at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday, respectively.
The SYO, and the Superior Blues, are also also hosting an eight-team Junior Legion Tournament.
The Blues opening game is at noon Friday against Duluth East.
