Wisconsin-Superior baseball coach Frank Pufall has resigned after five seasons on the bench, the Yellowjackets announced Wednesday.

The Yellowjackets finished 16-21 in 2021 after playing only six games (2-4) in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Superior's best season under Pufall was in 2019, when the Yellowjackets reached the UMAC championships series as the No. 4 seed. UWS finished 18-22 overall and 9-7 in the UMAC. The 18 wins are believed to be the most for the program since the 1960s.

The university announced a national search for Pufall's replacement will begin immediately.
