HERMANTOWN — Maple Grove completed a head-turning weekend offensive rampage through the Northland on Saturday, dumping Hermantown 6-3 on Saturday at Hermantown Hockey Arena a day after hanging eight goals on Grand Rapids at the IRA Civic Center.
Joshua Giuliani, who scored twice for the Crimson against Rapids, had booked a hat trick by the 4:27 mark of the second period. His third goal made it 4-2 Maple Grove.
Zam Plante scored twice and assisted on the other goal, but Hermantown's 11-game win streak was snapped. The Hawks (17-2) lost on home ice for the first time since Feb. 1, 2018 (Cloquet-Esko-Carlton), a span of 50 games.
Grand Rapids 9, White Bear Lake 2
The Thunderhawks recovered quickly from their Friday loss, scoring four times in the first period of a rout at IRA Civic Center.
Garett Drotts finished with a hat trick and three assists, while Joey DelGreco was a goal short of the same.

Duluth East 6, Mounds View 3
The Greyhounds scored five unanswered goals, two of them by Noah Teng and two by Aiden Spenningsby, to overcome a 3-1 deficit. Cole Christian also scored twice, while Teng added a pair of assists.

Annika Lindgren and Meredith Boettcher scored for the eighth-ranked Hilltoppers, but the Bears got three unanswered goals for the home win at the Blake Ice Arena to sweep a two-game series after a 4-1 decision on Friday night.

Seven different Hilltoppers made at least one 3-pointer as Marshall evened its record at 9-9. Ava Meierotto made four triples and scored a game-high 19 points.

Ayden McDonald scored his 2,000th career point in a 24-point day, but the Bluejackets didn't have much else to celebrate, as they were down 49-15 at halftime during the Breakdown Sports Community Clash at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
