Prep track and field: Spartans’ Fonger finishes 20th in 100 meters at state meet

Superior senior was competing at state meet for the first time.

Superior senior Carter Fonger finished 20th in the 100 meters Saturday at the Wisconsin Division 1 Track and Field State Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Fonger, who was competing at the state meet for the first time, finished in 11.58 seconds.

Oshkosh West senior Sam Blaskowski was the top qualifier in 10.85 seconds. He bettered that in the final, winning in 10.83 seconds, with New Richmond sophomore Ethan Turbeville second in 11.05 seconds.
