Superior’s Chesie McLaughlin hit two home runs and totaled five RBIs at the plate and shut down Menomonie on five hits as the Spartans began a nonconference doubleheader sweep with a 12-5 win Friday at Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Superior won the second game 8-0 as starting pitcher Haley Zembo allowed just three hits and struck out six in five innings.
Emma Raye homered and had two RBIs in that game for the Spartans (18-1), who had extra-base hits in the opener including a homer and double by Indigo Fish.
BASEBALL
Superior 20, Hibbing 11
The Spartans scored seven runs in the fifth, six in the sixth and five in the seventh to overcome a 7-2 deficit to win the nonconference road game.
Jonny Rhodes had three hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs for the Spartans. George Hansen and Kaden Kimmes each had three RBIs.

BOYS TENNIS
Superior 5, Ashland 2
The Spartans won three singles matches and two at doubles to earn the victory over the Oredockers.
Superior also lost 7-0 to Menomonie.
