Haley Zembo tossed a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Superior to a 10-0 victory over Wausau West in their first-round Division 1 high school softball playoff game Monday, June 14, at NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.
Natalie Sigfrids went 3-for-3, and Emma Raye went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBIs for the Spartans (21-1), who will host Stevens Point (16-9) at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, for the regional championship.

Northwood/Solon Springs rolls into next round
Junior Zoey Vaara pitched a six-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks to lead Northwood/Solon Springs to an 11-1 victory over Ladysmith in the Division 4 playoffs Monday, June 14, in Solon Springs.
The only run Vaara allowed was unearned.
NSS got great games from the top of its order. Leadoff hitter Annika Patrick was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, Kayla Schultz was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, Bailey Monson was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs and cleanup hitter Muree Ahlberg was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.
Top-seeded Northwood/Solon Springs (17-2), which had a first-round bye into the semifinals, plays Chetek-Weyerhaeuser (13-9) for the regional championship at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, in Minong. Chetek-Weyerhaeuser advanced with a 7-2 victory over Shell Lake.

Meyer tied for state lead
Northwestern junior Trent Meyer is tied for the lead in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 state golf tournament after the opening day Monday, June 14, at Trappers Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells.

Meyer, Ethan Arndt of Madison Edgewood and Ty Kretz of Marinette all fired three-over-par 75s. Four more golfers were a shot behind at 76, with the second and final day Tuesday, June 15.
Meyer was medalist at both the regional and sectional tournaments and advanced to the state tournament as an individual. Madison Edgewood has a four-shot lead over Lakeland in the team competition.
