Prep report: Thunderhawks start season with a bang

Joey DelGreco and Garett Drotts both had a hat trick as Grand Rapids started its 2021-22 boys hockey season by drubbing Hibbing/Chisholm 11-0 on Saturday at the IRA Civic Center.

DelGreco added three assists for a six-point night for the Thunderhawks. Myles Gunderson had a 14-save shutout.

Wausau West 4, Superior 2

Third-period goals from Lucas Williams and Kell Piggott weren't enough for the Spartans to rally from 3-0 down after two periods.

Chaska 3, Duluth East 1

Sam Scheetz had a hat trick for the Hawks, with Lars Berg's power-play tally early in the third period the Greyhounds' only reply.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Burnsville 2, Proctor/Hermantown 2 (OT)

The Mirage rallied from 2-0 down to earn a tie on Saturday at Hermantown Arena.

Grand Rapids-Greenway 2, Blaine 1

Kalle Reed scored a pair of goals 4:31 apart in the second period and the Lightning got 18 saves from Makenzie Cole.

Hastings 4, Duluth 3 (OT)

Emma Fellman tied it up for the Northern Stars with just :42 to play but Kiki Radant's second goal of the game won it for the Raiders.
