Prep girls basketball: Saints topple Tigers in Heart O’ North showdown

Four players score at least 13 points apiece for St. Croix Falls.

Olivia Miron had 18 points and Brianna McCurdy had 17 to lead St. Croix Falls to a 73-64 Heart O’ North Conference victory over Northwestern in high school girls basketball Monday, Feb. 8, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.

Kaylee Miron added 16 points and Emily McCurdy 13 as the Saints (19-1 overall, 15-1 HON), who led 33-25 at the break, got great balance. St. Croix Falls’ only loss on the season was to Northwestern, 69-67, Tuesday, Dec. 15, in Maple.

Tieryn Plasch (23 points), Allison Luoma (18), Gabby Risley (10) and Brynn Erickson (nine) all scored at least nine points apiece for the Tigers (13-4, 12-3). Plasch finished with six assists, Luoma had five rebounds and three blocks and Erickson had eight rebounds and four assists.

Northwestern opens the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association playoffs at home at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, against Cameron.
