Friday's nonconference football game between Stevens Point Area and Superior was stopped by lightning after the first play from scrimmage of the second half.

The Panthers had all the time they needed.

Behind an overwhelming performance from SPASH quarterback Riley Warzynski and his receiving corps, the Panthers rolled to a 43-0 victory.

Warzynski threw for four touchdowns in a span of less than six minutes of the first quarter, connecting with four different receivers on scoring plays of 52, 28, 17 and 19 yards. The quick-strike offensive opportunities were sparked by the Spartans (0-2) losing fumbles on the first play of back-to-back drives. The senior QB was 8-for-8 for 129 yards as his team had a 27-0 lead after the first frame.

With four receivers split out wide, Warzynski scored the Panthers' fifth touchdown with his legs, taking a 37-yard draw up the middle to conclude the first drive of the second quarter. He threw for a fifth touchdown in the second quarter.

SPASH was good at defending the pass too, as Superior's Carson Gotelaere was 1-for-10 for 7 yards passing and was sacked once in the first half.

The hosts finished their show with a 49-yard field goal from Camden Saeger as time expired.

The teams went through their typical halftime paces before lightning was seen in the area just after the game resumed. The contest, already official, was abandoned at that point.

Superior (0-2) returns home Friday to face Eau Claire North.
