Hunter Bigge delivered a quality start, and the Duluth Huskies stayed unbeaten in the second half of the Northwoods League season with a 3-2 victory over the Rochester Honkers on Friday night before 1,001 at Mayo Field in Rochester, Minn.
Duluth (3-0) was known more for its hitting in the first half but has only allowed four runs in three second-half games.
Bigge, a 6-foot right-hander from Harvard, scattered four hits and allowed one run in six innings, with seven strikeouts and three walks. Tim Holdgrafer allowed one run over the final three innings to get the save.
Duluth took advantage of two errors to score all three of its runs in the fifth inning. Christian Jones and Julian Escobedo had two hits appiece to lead the Huskies, while Alex Baeza and Logan Denholm hit home runs to lead the Honkers (0-3).
The game took just 2 hours, 27 minutes to complete.
