Flocks of turkeys have recently been spotted along Highway 13 and County Road H in Douglas County.
A turkey pops its head out of the foliage along County Road H near Brule Monday, Aug. 31. Turkeys typically travel in flocks and search on the ground for nuts, berries, insects, and snails. They use their strong feet to scratch leaf litter out of the way. At night, turkeys fly up into trees to roost in groups. (Jed Carlson / jcarlson@superiortelegram.com)
