Even in a steady rain, close to 50 student-athletes were out on the field at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex Wednesday, July 22, for the first session of Bigger, Faster, Stronger training.

Student-athletes are divided into a north end zone group and south end zone group and have designated spots to stand to maintain proper social distancing.

The Superior High School coaches wear masks during the training sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Students do body weight strength and speed workouts on the football field.

"It's great for these kids to get out, see their friends and get exercise," golf coach Brad Larson said.

Jed Carlson joined the Superior Telegram in February 2001 as a photographer. He grew up in Willmar, Minnesota. He graduated from Ridgewater Community College in Willmar, then from Minnesota State Moorhead with a major in mass communications with an emphasis in photojournalism.
