The Douglas County Deer Advisory Council will finalize its 2020 recommendations for this year’s deer harvest Thursday, May 7 at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held via conference call. Members of the public can listen in by calling 855-947-8255, passcode 9760-505.
The council’s preliminary recommendation called for a bucks-only harvest to grow the deer herd after two consecutive seasons with unexpected deer harvest declines.
Members of the public had the opportunity to comment on the recommendation from April 16-29. Council Chairman Al Horvath said 579 people responded to the county’s online survey and 306 sent in written responses. Their main points will be summarized during the Thursday meeting.
